I am sure that at some points in the processing of admissions, applicants, and of course parents start to wonder about who are behind the whole process of making admission decisions. The people making admission decisions are admission officers who make up admissions committee that will go through the application review process that include the review of your applications and supporting documents to determine your admission. These people are not mysterious as most people may think; these people are in fact, generally love to make a difference in the lives of student and love to talk to student and to read their applications. This is probably so because statistics has shown that these admissions officers come to the job with a variety of experiences and educational backgrounds. These officers represent the universities and colleges to build a student body that matches what their programs have to offer. Every school wants students who will be academically successful and become future alumni who will make the school proud.

Admission officers are therefore saddled with making the right decisions in admitting students. There are two major ways they use in making these decisions apart from the application forms, these are your college essays and college interview- though not all colleges and universities require interview. It is a great advice then that you should thrive to impress these officers because these are the only ways admission officers can meet you.

The following tips will help a great deal if adhered to.

Do well in admission tests: Admission tests for most schools qualify applicants for admission and most importantly scholarships and other benefits.

Apply Early: Apply way before deadlines. You must always remember that awarding of scholarship is first come first serve basis.

College essay

This is most daunting because it reveals who you are, this is where the admission Officers will have the opportunity to know you beyond your test scores. Be honest and create the right impression in your statement of purpose. A good and impressive POP should contain your career goals, reasons for choosing to study abroad and in the College, and how you intend to affect your world. All these must be expressed using persuasive language skills to make a compelling write up!

Impress in the interview:  Remember that the interview is neither an academic test nor is it a test of English; however, you will need to use basic definition and keep up a conversation with a good degree of fluency. The following will help during the interview.

Listen carefully: Carefully think about why a question is being asked and what the interviewer wants to know.

Be confident: It is ok if you do not understand what your interviewer has said, be free to ask him to explain the question or speak more slowly.

Show clarity of thoughts: Express your points and give your opinion logically. Avoid slang, use professional language, and be positive and enthusiastic.
